Ronda Rousey

As promised, WrestleMania was headlined by women for the first time in its long history this past weekend. A Triple Threat match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair took place with both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships on the line. In the end, Lynch was the one woman to walk out of the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey with both titles, but the ending of the match has caused some debate. Lynch appeared to pin Rousey while her shoulders weren't on the mat. There have been conflicting reports over whether or not the incident was a botch or done deliberately as a way to keep Rousey strong while suffering her first defeat ever since the match came to an end this past Sunday night.

Fightful Select's Sean Ross Sapp says that the incident was not planned at all, and Vince McMahon even took action against the referee involved in the match. Referee Rod Zapata was reportedly fined by McMahon following a discussion with the WWE Chairman after the match ended. McMahon apparently blames Zapata for counting too early, which is why Rousey's shoulders were still up while he began counting. This apparently also surprised Rousey and Lynch, who did not have enough time to kick out and improvise a different ending to the match. Rousey suffered a hand injury during the match and is said to be on hiatus from wrestling until further notice. However, a rematch between Lynch and Rousey isn't being ruled out now either.

CM Punk's days in wrestling are long over, but he did take the time to comment on WrestleMania 35 a bit during an appearance on the Sauce and Shram Show. Punk was asked about his former tag team partner Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship, which he said "should've happened ten years ago." He then implored WWE to be more aware of its own talent and surroundings. Punk and Kingston won tag team gold together during their early WWE runs. Punk also said that he believes that Shane McMahon's "Best in the World" moniker is likely a dig at him, and he also praised the Triple Threat match between Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, and Becky Lynch, which was the first time that a women's match has ever headlined a WrestleMania show.
