It has become apparent over the past couple of weeks that WWE is aggressively pursuing as much talent from the indies as it possibly can in time for early 2019. The company is said to be in the process of signing several talents from multiple promotions as part of a massive January 2019 Performance Center class. With Impact Wrestling, Major League Wrestling, Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and possibly the new All Elite Wrestling founded by the members of The Elite all on the rise, WWE is doing absolutely all that it can to avoid the potential threat of serious competition. The company is reportedly looking at stars from all over the world whose current contracts are set to expire towards the end of the year.

Just yesterday, it was reported that WWE has its sights set on signing NJPW's KUSHIDA to a contract soon, but even more potential WWE signees have been revealed now. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter says that WWE is interested in signing 2018 Mae Young Classic competitors Rachel Ellering and Karen Q, as well as several other wrestlers. The report also noted that Jonah Rock, ACH, and Trevor Lee are definitely each on their way into the company. The three of them are expected to start off their WWE careers as members of the NXT roster this January. Earlier this week, it was noted that Shane Strickland was also expected to join WWE soon, but his current Lucha Underground contract may have pushed back his official start date with the company.

Legendary pro wrestler Larry "The Axe" Hennig passed away yesterday at the age of 82. Hennig was a respected wrestler, and his work lived on through his son "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, as well as through current Raw Superstar Curtis Axel. Numerous talents and workers in the industry have posted their own statements and tributes to "The Axe" even since his passing was announced 24 hours ago. Curtis Axel himself has now released some words about his grandfather on social media. Axel said that no one has had a bigger impact on his career than Larry Hennig, and he promised to keep the Hennig name alive. Axel also thanked his fans and supporters for the well-wishes that he and have family have received.
