INDY NEWS: Former ROH World Champion Arrested for Assault in Japan

Former Ring of Honor World Champion Takeshi Morishima, 40, got physical with a cab driver after reportedly refusing to pay a fare that amounted to $159 yesterday, and was arrested for assault, according to Yahoo! Japan. The taxi driver reportedly sustained a fractured cheek among other injuries.

Morishima started work in the States for Ring of Honor in 2007, eventually beating Homicide to become the first foreigner to win the ROH belt. He defended the title for 231 days before dropping the belt at Undeniable in 2007 in a match won by Nigel McGuinness. WWE at one point had interest in the 6'3, 287lbs. wrestler, but never signed him after a couple tryout matches. Injuries eventually led to his retirement in 2015, but back in July it was announced he was looking to make an in-ring return in late 2018.
