Trish Stratus & Curt Hawkins Action Figure Preview, Ringside Fest
Wednesday, September 26, 2018
Some news and details about upcoming wrestling action figures have just been released. Mattel is planning on introducing some changes to their lines of WWE action figures in late 2018/early 2019. For example, True FX technology be used on figures to provide a much more lifelike facial resemblance, and each new toy in the Elite series will include a set of interchangeable hands. Additionally, Mattel looks to be expanding the amount of different figures for WWE Superstars next year. Case in point, the toy company has just shown off photos of brand new action figures based on wrestlers who have barely get any attention at all from Mattel over the years: WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus and Raw Superstar Curt Hawkins.
After years without a Trish Stratus action figure being made, Mattel will be coming out with a new version of the former WWE Women's Champion. This new Stratus figure will be included in the WrestleMania 35 basic line, and it appears to be based off of her appearance at WrestleMania X8 in 2002 when she competed against Lita and Jazz in a Triple Threat match in a losing effort. Stratus herself offered fans a preview of the figure on her website.
New images of the debut Elite figure for Curt Hawkins have emerged recently as well. Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins released images for the debut Hawkins Elite on the official Twitter account for their Major Wrestling Figure Podcast, and Mattel really outdid themselves with this one. Hawkins is stunningly recreated and includes a set of closed fists, a cane, and a removable entrance vest. It also includes a breakaway Raw panel that Hawkins or any other wrestling action figure can be sent through. There will be a special "Chase" edition of Curt Hawkins' Elite figure as well, allowing collectors to choose between a blue-geared or black-geared version of the WWE Superstar.
In other news, Ringside Collectibles has just announced the date for this year's Ringside Fest event. The annual showing typically sees Mattel reveal several new products for the upcoming year, and while details on this year's event remain scarce, it has now been confirmed that Ringside Fest will return in New York City on October 27th.
