New Match For Extreme Rules, SD Opening Segment, TLC Cancelled?

By Marchman · Tuesday, July 10, 2018 · 0 Comments

WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view will be taking place this Sunday night, and the event will be headlined by a match between Rusev and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, as well as another match featuring Bobby Lashley and Roman Reigns going at it. During last night's episode of Raw, another match was made official for the show this weekend. Braun Strowman and Kevin Owens will now be settling their differences in a steel cage during the pay-per-view. Owens has been trying to avoid Strowman on Raw lately, but the former Universal Champion will have nowhere to run once he enters the cage with "The Monster Among Men" during the Extreme Rules event on the WWE Network this Sunday.

Smackdown will be airing live tonight on the USA Network as usual from Omaha, Nebraska, and quite a few segments and matches for the show have already been announced by the company. During last night's episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that Smackdown tonight will open with a Miz TV segment with The Miz talking to Kane and Daniel Bryan. It was also announced that AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura will be facing each other one more time tonight in a non-title match. It was also confirmed last week that this week's show will see a rematch between James Ellsworth and Asuka with Smackdown roster members acting as lumberjacks surrounding the ring during the match.

The Tables, Ladder, and Chair pay-per-view typically takes place at the end of the year in WWE, and fans may remember that last year's TLC event featured the unique return of The Shield with Kurt Angle taking the place of Roman Reigns in the former's first match back in WWE in over a decade. PWInsider has just noted that this year's TLC show may not be taking place after all as last night's episode of Raw advertised a Raw and Smackdown "Supershow" on October 21st that will feature an appearance from Ronda Rousey. Information online about TLC has been removed, and no mention of the pay-per-view was made to the Boston crowd during Raw last night. WWE has not confirmed that the TLC event has been cancelled as of yet.
