Spoilers on WWE 2K19 Cover Star and Pre-Order Bonus Character
Friday, June 15, 2018
Year after year a brand new video game from WWE and 2K is released, and each game is generally well-received. Plenty of new features and additions are made with every new release, but before any of that is ever even revealed, WWE typically announces who will be appearing on the cover of the video game. Only one superstar from the WWE roster is allowed to appear on the video game cover, so a lot of fans have been speculating on which WWE Superstar would receive the honor this year. Although 2K and WWE planned to reveal all of the details this upcoming Monday, a new report may have just spilled the beans on the announcements that are being planned this week.
A recent report from Pro Wrestling Sheet has just uncovered some tidbits from the commercial shoot for this year's game. The commercial for the game was shot earlier in the week and it appears that a cover star for WWE 2K19 has been selected. It turns out that none other than current WWE Champion AJ Styles will be appearing on the cover of the video game when it comes out this fall. Last year's edition of the game had Seth Rollins appear as the cover star while names such as Brock Lesnar and Stone Cold Steve Austin have appeared on the game in the past. This will be the first time ever that "The Phenomenal One" has been displayed on the cover of a WWE video game.
That is not the only bit of news that was revealed by Pro Wrestling Sheet. Fans may recall Goldberg and Kurt Angle being included as playable characters in WWE 2K17 and WWE 2K18 respectively as special pre-order bonus characters. The trend of having an unlockable bonus character will continue for those who pre-order a copy of WWE 2K19. Ronda Rousey will be available as a character in the game this year as the special unlockable character. Also, after making appearances at the Royal Rumble and Greatest Royal Rumble events earlier this year, Rey Mysterio will reportedly be featured in this year's game. Mysterio recently posted a photo of himself with Jeff Hardy on Instagram, and it is believed that the two of them met up to shoot the WWE 2K19 commercial with other WWE Superstars.
