On May 24, 2018, at the 30th Annual Sheriff Buford Pusser Festival in Adamsville, TN, legendary wrestling promoter Bert Prentice’s USA Championship Wrestling presented the 1st Annual Buford Pusser Memorial Cup. The festival itself is a yearly tribute to hometown icon, sheriff, & former professional wrestler, Buford Pusser. Known for his efforts to eliminate criminal elements from McNairy County, TN in the 1960s, Pusser’s legend has spawned books, songs, a popular TV series, and even a blockbuster motion picture, “Walking Tall”, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The Buford Pusser Memorial Cup Battle Royal, including such wrestling stars as “Superstar” Bill Dundee & “Dangerous” Doug Gilbert, was won by 3x NWA World Tag Team champion, Reality TV star, and host of “The Matt Riviera Show” podcast, “The LVR Boy” Matt Riviera, when Riviera eliminated “Superstar” Bill Dundee.

Matt Riviera comments on winning the Sheriff Buford Pusser Memorial Cup:

“It is my sincere honor to have been asked to compete in a match honoring such a figure as Sheriff Buford Pusser.”, stated Riviera. “However, it should be no surprise to anyone that at the end of the night, it’s the “LVR Boy” that is walking tall with the Buford Pusser Memorial Cup trophy. After all, I am the only man in pro wrestling today that is man enough to represent Sheriff Pusser and everything that he stood for. I will forever treasure this great honor.”
