WWE Legends Reportedly at Backlash, Lesnar's Next Appearance

Brock Lesnar

Backlash will be taking place in the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey later on tonight. The event will see matches featuring competitors from both Raw and Smackdown, and several different championships will be on the line as well. The event will be headlined by a no-disqualification rematch between Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles for the WWE Championhip, and also, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe will each have a change to get their hands on each other after weeks of trash talking. This definitely looks like it could be a fun show later tonight, but WWE could be working on making the show even more exciting by adding a few fun surprises into the mix.

With members of the Raw and Smackdown rosters set to appear on the show tonight, it is truly all hands on deck for Backlash. However, there does appear to be a few WWE Legends in Newark tonight as well. According to a report from PWInsider, Kane is backstage at tonight's Backlash show. Kane has been off of TV for weeks now, but he just recently secured the Republican nomination for the upcoming mayoral race in Knox County, Tennessee. The report also notes that Edge and Christian have arrived in the Prudential Center as well. It is unclear whether or not they are simply there to record material for the second season of the Edge & Christian Show or if they will be appearing on the show later tonight.

One champion who definitely will not be appearing at Backlash tonight is Brock Lesnar. The Universal Champion is set to miss out on tonight's pay-per-view, but the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has claimed that he will be defending the title once again at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view next month against either Braun Strowman or Roman Reigns. Those same reports and other listings now show that Lesnar's next appearance on Monday Night Raw could be set for the May 21st show in Albany, New York. WWE has not yet confirmed that Lesnar will be on that show, but it does certainly seem likely that "The Beast Incarnate" will be back on Raw before the end of the month in order to hype up his next match.
