As previously reported, WWE had decided to put an end to Asuka using the arm bar finisher after previously been told to focus on it. Originally, she was told to switch from the chicken wing to the armbar because the long term plan was to build towards a match against Ronda Rousey.
At some point though, she was instructed to stop using the armbar which would likely be right around the time when WWE decided to abandon the plans for a Rousey vs. Asuka Match and go ahead with Charlotte ending the streak. As a result, it appears that Charlotte will now be built up to face Rousey at next year's WrestleMania.
