Fans were shocked by the outcome of the Smackdown Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 34. The title match saw Charlotte Flair retain her title by ending Asuka's undefeated streak via submission. During Brad Shepard's Backstage in WWE podcast, he revealed some new information on the match from behind the scenes. Shepard says that the match was originally set to see Asuka win the title before also defeating Carmella when she attempted to cash in her Money in the Bank contract immediately afterwards. Vince McMahon apparently decided to have Flair win because he is not interested in seeing Asuka vs. Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania anymore, which had been the previous plan for next year's event.

One of the most notorious backstage friendships in professional wrestling was the one that existed for several decades between Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Hulk Hogan. That friendship is definitely over as Beefcake has been teasing that he will reveal secret information about Hogan in his new autobiography while Hogan himself has been publicly threatening to sue him if he does. During an interview with Wrestling Inc., Jimmy Hart spoke on the matter by providing the following update: "I think everything is great now, on Christmas holidays, I got a call from Brutus, 'Jimmy, I love you, baby!' and I said, 'I love you too, Brutus!' And so, it's like everything else." This could indicate that the Mega Maniacs are no longer feuding and have now peacefully resumed their friendship.

WWE just announced that several different programs will be arriving and returning to the WWE Network within the next few months. One of the most intriguing shows announced was the Something Else to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard podcast. Prichard recently revealed that the podcast will be just as raunchy and filled with fascinating behind the scenes stories about WWE as fans have come to expect from the regular version of his podcast. Prichard's co-host, Conrad Thompson, has just revealed that the 13-episode series will begin taping next Monday. There is still no word on a premiere date for the new series just yet, but it will be available on the WWE Network later this year.
