Wednesday Night War Recap (4 March)- AEW Rides Their PPV Rush

Well, the results are in, and once again AEW takes a commanding lead in the Wednesday Night ratings War.

Despite advertising two steel cage matches ahead of Wednesday night– two blood feud matches between Dakota Kai & Teagan Nox and The Velveteen Dream & Roderick Strong that actually lived up to expectations— saw a dip in almost 80,000 viewers.

Dynamite was riding the rush coming out of a tremendous PPV weekend. Revolution had the heat of the continued division of The Elite between “Hangman” Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks; MJF stealing a victory over Cody after the odyssey “The American Nightmare” took just to get to the match; but most notably, they had a new AEW World Champion crowned, as Jon Moxley defeated “Le Champion” for the title. There was also the promised debut of Lance Archer, though that didn’t come to pass. Instead, legend Jake “The Snake” Roberts made a surprise appearance, and cut one of the best heel promos on pro wrestling television in years.

It will be interesting to see if NXT ramps up in anyway as TakeOver: Tampa Bay inches closer by the week, or if at this point their just content to stay the course and focus on their own ways without competing with Dynamite.
