The latest ratings for the Wednesday Night War have been released, and AEW once again topped NXT, and this time not by a little bit.

The 5 February episode of NXT featured some solid in-ring work, but was certainly more geared to build towards their next TakeOver event next Sunday. An advertised Charlotte Flair appearance saw a bit of a bump from last week, so after the return of The Velveteen Dream a true go-home show before TakeOver: Portland, and the intensity of Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano it will be interesting to see if there’s another slight bump for the Black and Yellow brand.
Dynamite for whatever reason has decided to run concurrent Biblical-inspired storylines, which bookended the 5 February episode.
It opened with Jon Moxley and The Inner Circle embroiled in an “eye-for-an-eye” rivalry, with Mox getting his revenge after having his eye stabbed with a screwdriver weeks ago, by stabbing the eye of Santana with the car key he had swindled from Chris Jericho, building more heat between Moxley and Jericho heading into their AEW World Championship match at the next PPV, Revolution on Saturday 29 February.
As far as Revolution is concerned, the blood feud between Cody and MJF built even more heat in Dynamite’s closing segment, as “The American Nightmare” took his lashes, and had proudly displayed the welts afterwards, thus completing on more of his stipulations to facing his former protege at the PPV.
