WWE “After The Bell” Announced

Hello AW Universe,

After an– shall we say interesting..?– week in WWE where they executed the (mostly poorly received) draft, and lost another Wednesday night battle to AEW Dynamite, the changes continue to flow in as they’ve announced a new podcast, “After the Bell.”

Corey Graves will host the new podcast, which WWE is branding as “edgy and unpredictable,” dropping every Wednesday and will, I guess, be a recap and/or preview show about Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. The debut episode already has its first guest announced, WWE Executive Vice President (and NXT mastermind) Triple H.

The question that immediately comes to mind is just how “edgy and unpredictable” an official WWE property can really get, particularly in their mostly PG-rated climate. Is there really any chance that this will be a shoot podcast, with unfiltered thoughts and opinions? It seems very unlikely, given that Graves is simultaneously worked as the current colour analyst next to Michael Cole on SmackDown, and Triple H is the driving creative force behind NXT. Which, is likely why Trips is the first guest, given that AEW has been owned Wednesdays for the first three episodes of Dynamite, and this will be some sort of attempt to re-assert NXT over AEW.

Maybe the FOX influence behind SmackDown will offer a more (pardon the pun) raw look at product, but there is very little reason to believe that Vince McMahon would ever approve anything that isn’t a sanitized– and frankly, biased– look at WWE.

The debut episode is available on October 30th.
