Show Results: 2019 WWE Clash Of Champions

Here is what went down at WWE’s Clash Of Champions in Charlotte, North Carolina that took place September 15, 2019.

Pre-Show Matches

Triple threat for the Cruiserweight Championship
Drew Gulak (C) defeats Lince Doroto & Humberto Carrillo

Gulak retains the title by pinning Dortao after a fast paced match full of your typical cruiserweight spots.

US Championship
(C) AJ Styles defeats Cedric Alexander

AJ Styles retains with his springboard elbow and Styles Clash combo in a surprisingly short match where Alexander didn’t get as much offense in as one would have hoped to see.

2019 Clash Of Champions

RAW Tag Team Championship
Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler defeat (C) Seth Rollins & Braun Strowman

Roode and Ziggler win the titles when Roode hits the Glorious DDT on Rollins to get the pin. Just before the DDT, Strowman knocked Roode into Rollins and sent both crashing into the corner before Ziggler managed to pull Strowman out of the ring.

Smackdown Women’s Championship
(C) Bayley defeats Charlotte Flair

Bayley retains after exposing the bottom turnbuckle and slamming Charlotte into it and getting a roll up pin. Before that Charlotte had largely dominated the match.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) defeats (C) The New Day (Big E & Xavier Woods)

The Revival win after taking out Big E on the outside with a Shatter Machine and then targeting an injured Xavier Woods with an inverted figure four that made him tap out. After the match, the Revival cut a promo on how the old school has quieted the new noise. They then put over Orton winning the WWE Championship later in the night.

Women’s Tag Team Championship
(C) Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss defeats Fire & Desire (Mandy Rose * Sonya DeVille)

Crazy fun match that was partly interrupted early on with R-Truth being chased into the ring by a mob of wrestlers and Bliss nearly rolling up Truth for the title. Eventually Cross was able to pick up a win with a corkscrew DDT on Mandy Rose.

Intercontinental Championship
(C) Shinsuke Nakumara defeats The Miz

Plenty of shenanigans from Sami Zayn help Shinsuke retain the IC title after Miz has nailed the Skull Crushing Finale but couldn’t get a pin as Zayn had the ref tied up.

RAW Women’s Championship
Sasha Banks defeats (C) Becky Lynch via DQ

Very entertaining match with a hot crowd that seemed to be split for both women. Sasha introduces a steel chair into the match which Becky then goes to use on Sasha but misses and hits the referee which causes the DQ.

After the match both women continue to brawl through the crowd, in the arena concourse and back through the crowd before Becky locks in a Dis-arm-her through a steel chair with refs needing to break up the hold.

WWE Heavyweight Championship
(C) Kofi Kingston defeats Randy Orton

A slow, plodding match that made an already spent crowd from the previous match even quieter. Orton’s typical slow pace as a wrestler does not match well with Kofi who has most of his ability muted. Kofi does retain after a Trouble In Paradise Outta Nowhere.

Backstage the Street Prophets do their usual bit where they hype the King Of The Ring final tomorrow on RAW. King Booker (BOOKAH) interrupts them and general tom foolery insues.

Eric Rowan defeats Roman Reigns

It took a little while to get there, but eventually Rowan vs Roman turned into a decent big man no-holds brawl that looked to be going Roman’s way until a spear attempt on the ramp was stopped by a returning Luke Harper. Rowan and Harper then double teamed Roman and an iron claw slam was followed by a Rowan pin to get the victory.

WWE Universal Championship
(C) Seth Rollins defeats Braun Strowman

Seth retains after taking a bunch of punishment from Braun including a top rope splash from the monster. In that splash attempt, Braun tweeks his knee which is where Seth takes advantage, but needs three Stomp attempts – each one kicked out of. Braun goes for a powerslam but his knee gives out and Seth reverses it into a Pedigree. Seth hits a fourth Stomp and gets the pin.

After the match, Seth celebrates on the entrance ramp, but the lights go out and The Fiend appears, delivering a Sister Abigail to Seth. The Fiend then takes out Seth with the Mandible Claw as the lights go out again and we hear the evil laugh of Bray Wyatt.
