It has been widely reported now, but the WWE has a massive problem with their attendance figures for a PPV Stomping Grounds. A cursory search for tickets to the pay-per-view in Tacoma, Washington can show you that.

We posted this a couple of days ago.
At that time, the WWE had already blocked off parts of the arena that would be able to be framed out of most shots (a common practice for house shows and lower attendance shows) but now according to Dave Meltzer (from the fine folks at Ringside News), the WWE has had to take it a step further and is selling tickets in 2-for-1 deals starting at $20 for the package.
This is a wild turn of events for the WWE who are fresh off the attendance woes of Super Showdown, that saw (according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter) roughly 21,000 of the 62,000 seat “King Abdullah Sports City”. Attendance is down all over and they are left scrambling for ways to bump that number up.
The card for Stomping Grounds is a strong one from the storylines they are carrying now.
So far confirmed:
- SD Women’s Championship – Bayley (c) vs Alexa Bliss
- Raw Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (c) vs Lacey Evans
- Universal Championship – Seth Rollins (c) vs Baron Corbin ft. Special guest referee
- WWE Championship – Kofi Kingston (c) vs Dolph Ziggler in the steel cage
- Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre
As well as both the Crusierweight champ Tony Nese and United States Champion Samoa Joe having matches with TBD opponents. I’d say you don’t want to miss out, but it looks like a lot of will be (if not watching on the Network)
