The bigger they are, the harder they fall. It would seem the old adage remains true as following a match against the Lucha House Party on June 10th Lars Sullivan suffered a knee injury. At the time it was believed to be a minor setback and he was scheduled to return soon but a recent MRI has revealed more damage than initially believed.
Speculation abounds from where in the match the injury happened but one thing is for sure, a tough start to a young career for the man who has now suffered his second setback in a short time. The first being an anxiety attack prior to his debut (report from Prowrestlingsheet.com).
Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer first had the news last week that the injury may be worse than originally thought. Then Meltzer said (h/t Cageside Seats) that Sullivan was planned to be returning to action with a match against Matt Hardy on Smackdown Live but that was of course removed from the card with the injury.
This news is a massive setback and the six to nine month window puts his appearance at things like the Royal Rumble on January 26th, 2020 in jeopardy.
We here at AllWrestling wish Lars all the best in recovery.
