Mr. Nick’s Notes: NXT Edition May 29th, 2019

Mia Yim v Bianca Belair lead off the show tonight with a rematch after the Bianca used her giant ponytail (yes you read that right) to win the last match. Two of the best women in NXT shouldn’t disappoint.

Beth Phoenix has been great on the commentary team since joining. Learning from the best in WWE Mauro Ranallo.

This has been a takeover level match! Mia Yim gets the win by using that before mentioned ponytail to hit her finisher. Fantastic match!

What a great pre-tape promo hyping Velveteen Dream v Tyler Breeze at NXT: Takeover XXV. Taped promos always hit harder for me because they’re punctuated by music and video cuts.

Shayna is a great NXT Women’s Champion, but I’d like to see her lose on Saturday. Time for a new champ.

KUSHIDA!! Anyone who uses this much Back to the Future references is alright in my books. Having Drew Gulak back in NXT is going to be a treat to those who love that old school wrestling.

I should have kept count of how many submissions there was during this match. Kushida wins this delight of a match with a surprise roll-up. A submission wrestling clinic was a surprising change of pace after seeing so many high spots over the weekend.

Next up is a hype video for the NXT Championship match at NXT: Takeover XXV. Johnny Garganno v Adam Cole was fantastic at the last takeover, so this time it’s destined to be a classic.

Main event tag match. Danny Birch & Oney Lorcan v Forgotten Sons. Oney is going to be that wrestler who never has to leave NXT because he’s perfect for developing everyone around him.

This one broke down in a hurry as all the teams involved in the Tag Team Title ladder match hit the ring and beat the hell out of each other. The Undisputed Era end the night standing tall after using their numbers to laying out every other team.

Enjoy NXT Takeover XXV this Saturday humanoids. I truly think that it will be the reply everyone is looking for after AEW Double or Nothing.
