WWE announced Thursday that John Cena will induct Kurt Angle into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the induction ceremony on March 31.
Angle tweeted the following regarding the news:
Cena then tweeted that he was honored to be chosen as Angle's presenter:
The Hall of Fame ceremony will make Angle's official return to WWE for the first time since leaving in 2006.
The careers of Angle and Cena are deeply intertwined, as Cena's WWE main roster debut in 2002 came in a match against the Olympic gold medalist.
Cena pushed Angle to the limit in a hard-fought defeat and became the poster boy for WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era.
Angle and Cena went on to have multiple great feuds and matches, and Angle currently stands as the last Superstar to force the leader of the Cenation to tap out.
As the headliner of WWE's 2017 Hall of Fame class, Angle figures to close the ceremony, so it is fitting that he will be introduced by the Superstar who has been the company's No. 1 guy for well over a decade.
Angle played a significant role in helping Cena get over and reach the heights he has, which makes Cena a prime candidate to induct him.
The 2017 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place two nights before WrestleMania 33 at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, and will air live on WWE Network.
