Sting Talks Wanting to Face Undertaker at WrestleMania

By MarcMiddleton · Friday, June 7, 2013 · 7 Comments

Sting spoke about the possibility of jumping to WWE and wrestling The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 during a recenter interview with the VOC Nation Radio Network.

"It’s no secret. I’ve always wanted to wrestle Undertaker; I’ve said that for years. And who would not want to work WrestleMania?"

Sting spoke to WWE two years ago about joining the company, but a deal never materialized:

"I do an annual contract every year and the rumors start right around January. The year that they did the (black and white) vignettes (in 2011), I had nothing to do with it and I had no conversations with the WWE at that time. Shortly afterward there were conversations (with WWE) just by happenstance but nothing official.”

Even though a move to WWE seems unlikely after all these years, he did say that it felt as if his TNA Hall of Fame induction last year was TNA's way of "putting me out to pasture," despite Dixie Carter saying that is "absolutely not" the case.

I want Sting to work a year for Vince. However, I do not want Sting to face Taker at Wrestlemania only. I want to see a proper feud with the rubber match at Wrestlemania.

Sting vs Taker at Wrestlemania can only have one result and Sting's little army of fans will be disappointed with it.

I agree with all of y'all. As much as we want the rivalry, we all know it wouldn't make a good one in this day and age. They're too old, and the WWE is too PG. Sting would be more memorable if he just never signed with WWE.

Age is not an issue. Sting slowed down over a decade and a half ago and Taker was never a high octane wrestler, even when he was young. The match quality is not an issue.....if anything....Taker does more in his matches now than he ever did when in his 20's and 30's. It would mainly be slapping and spots, there is no reason either of them can't work that match just as effectively as at any point in their careers. I've never rated Sting, but this match was always going to be likely for WM30, where i expect them both to retire. Takers retirement is a big deal and they will want the biggest name opponent they can get. With Hogan incapable of working that match it can only really be Sting or Takers replacement that he faces. Kane is an outsider with Lesner, and Cena is highly unlikely as Vince is not completely insane. They would have to build someone new up very fast to get them over in time so Sting seems an obvious choice if he's free

sting?... in 2013, we are talking about sting at a high profile match at wm level?...

sting is LONG past done... and newsflash, its NOT 1996 sting... which happens to be the last time you were actually relevant enough to be in a conversation like this... you are a complete shell of any form of an important wrestler... this post is a joke... 100%...

NOBODY has the dream of seeing the undertaker in there with the midget sting... sting has slowed down considerably... certainly cant muster up a great performance anymore... isnt big enough or relevant enough in the WWE scene to get ring time with the taker...

sting may very well want to go out on top... but he is an indy fed "star"... he is not good enough to be in the big time... sorry sting... this is just ridiculous...

the mere thought of sting coming in just for a match with the taker at wm30 sickens me...

As much as I don't think it will ever happen, I have to admit the idea is slightly intriguing... and it wouldn't be about match quality whatsoever, the match would be shearly about the names in it, that is all... Everyone would tune into it because of that... I see Taker facing Cena at WM 30....

I think some are taking what Sing said the wrong way even though Sting might want to  wrestle Taker at wrestlemania I think Sting knows it's to late for that to happen I'm not saying it wont happen nobody really knows anything can happen in wrestling but this issue always comes up when Stings contract is coming close to being up and at 54 and your activte wrestling career is close to being over with why go to WWE for one match when it's unclear if the Undertaker is even going to wrestle again let alone wrestlemania. whatever or not it  happens Sting is Icon and one of the best even if he never steps a foot into a WWE ring.

would someone take the time to explain to me why sting is considered an "icon" and "great"?... i see many of you praising him up and down and throwing around these terms... but i need some validation before i even consider your side of this...

sting was on the fast track to greatness in the early 90's with the surfer gimmick... his matches were good, charisma was there, and he was going well... but this was VERY short lived... sting pulled an aj styles and could NOT carry the company... so they repackaged him to be a crow-ripoff gimmick... and EVER SINCE the lame gimmick switch, he has gone downhill since then... all gimmick, no substance...

hell... since 1992, sting NEVER was the face of, or the top dog in wcw... many guys were given the top spots... from ric flair, nwo, etc... how can he be so great when he wasnt even the top and best guy in their roster?... he was a gimmick... no more, no less...

sting officially ended the career in the last nitro in 2001... he was decrepit then, and continues to be the shell of a once decent surfer... theres a reason the shirt doesnt come off... gramoy saggy ti## are not in style...

i would love to hear stings credentials to your guys claims,,,
