Will WWE Sign Mia Yim? Mae Young Classic Competitor Gets Injured
Friday, August 10, 2018
This article will contain SPOILERS from the Mae Young Classic TV tapings that took place in Full Sail University earlier this week with information provided by fans in attendance.
After impressing WWE officials during last year's Mae Young Classic tournament, Mia Yim was invited back to join the tournament again this year, and she impressed several fans during last night's Mae Young Classic tapings. Yim defeated Kaitlyn last night before later wrestling Toni Storm in the semifinals of the tournament. Although Yim lost to Storm, the match was praised by the fans and even prompted a "please sign Mia" chant. When Triple H delivered a promo in front of the crowd later that night, the crowd started the chant once again. Interestingly enough, Triple H simply said "okay" before the crowd erupted in a "yes" chant. Did WWE just sign Mia Yim to a contract? The answer should hopefully be revealed very soon.
NXT Superstar Tegan Nox continued to wrestle in the Mae Young Classic tournament after moving past the first round earlier this week. Last night, Nox continued her winning ways by advancing into the quarterfinals and semifinals of the tournament. Unfortunately, tragedy shortly after Nox began her semifinals match with Rhea Ripley. Nox had the crowd behind her when she attempted to dive outside of the ring. Unfortunately, she began to favor her leg right after that and the apparent injury only got worse as the match went on. After she landed awkwardly on the floor from the dive, the referee went over to check on Nox and threw up the "X" sign to indicate to backstage officials that she hurt her leg.
Nox and Ripley tried to continue the match, but the referee eventually decided to call of the match and give the victory to Ripley. As of now, the belief is that the injury is legitimate as Triple H later indicated in a live promo that she received a broken leg. The injury to Nox comes only a few months after she returned to the ring from an ACL injury. Nox cried in the ring as a team of medical officials helped her to the back. The Full Sail crowd remained silent and shocked as Nox was examined in the ring, but once she made her way out of the ring, she received a standing ovation from the fans. Be sure to stay tuned for any and all additional updates on Tegan Nox's in-ring future and the status of her injury.
