Almas Debuts on Smackdown, Another Rousey Match, Styles' Theme
Wednesday, May 16, 2018
When the Superstar Shakeup took place last month, it was announced that former NXT Champion Andrade "Cien" Almas would be joining the main WWE roster as a member of the Smackdown brand. Fans have had no choice but to wait for Almas to arrive on Smackdown for weeks now, but "El Idolo" finally arrived on last night's edition of the show from the United Kingdom. Almas defeated local wrestler Jake Constantino before his business associate Zelina Vega took the mic and promised to take over the Smackdown roster. Almas proved himself to be a true star in NXT, but now Andrade will finally been given the chance to truly breakout as a performer on Smackdown.
WWE made a huge announcement earlier this week when the company confirmed that Ronda Rousey will be facing Nia Jax for the Raw Women's Championship in what will only be Rousey's second match as a member of the WWE roster. Since the match was announced during the NBC Upfronts in New York, that meant that Rousey had to miss out on attending Raw in the UK this past Monday night. Fortunately, WWE has confirmed that Rousey will be returning to London later this year and she will be competing in a match when that time comes as well. WWE just announced that Rousey will be wrestling when the company returns to the UK for an upcoming live event on August 29th. Her opponent for that show has yet to be revealed.
Entrances are still an enormous part of becoming a WWE Superstar. Plenty of wrestlers have memorable entrances and theme music, but a lot of careful planning and time goes into perfecting an entrance before it truly becomes part of a WWE Superstar. Case in point, it was revealed by Road Dogg on a recent edition of Table for 3 that WWE Champion AJ Style's current entrance music was originally made for James Storm. Storm wrestled a few matches in NXT back in 2015, and the company was apparently convinced that he would be joining the company full time very soon. However, he turned down WWE's offer and went back to Impact Wrestling. When AJ Styles made his WWE debut back in 2016. the entrance theme was gifted to "The Phenomenal One" and he has been using it ever since.
