Wednesday, May 16, 2018
WWE's Money in the Bank pay-per-view is getting awfully close, and the company has been adding some intriguing matches like Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax for the Raw Women's Championship to the show this week. The company has also been determining the remaining participants for the Money in the Bank ladder matches this year. On Raw from this past Monday night, Kevin Owens and Bobby Roode both qualified for the men's ladder match while Alexa Bliss also earned a spot in the women's ladder match. During last night's Smackdown show in the United Kingdom, even more qualifying matches took place to determine some of the last participants in the upcoming matches.
Last night's edition of Smackdown featured a match between The New Day and The Bar, and the winning team of that match was granted the ability to insert one of their team members into the men's Money in the Bank ladder match. The New Day won the match, but it is unclear who between Kofi Kingston, Big E, and Xavier Woods will join the match at the moment. It was also confirmed that the final participant in the men's match will be determined when Samoa Joe and Big Cass face each other on Smackdown next week. Becky Lynch also defeated Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to earn a spot in the women's match. Another qualifying match pitting Lana against Billie Kay is confirmed to take place next week.
Renee Young remains a fan-favorite in WWE despite the fact that she has never once competed in a single match. Young has served in numerous broadcast capacities during her tenure in WWE, and she recently discussed her career during an interview on Edge and Christian's Pod of Awesomeness podcast. She also revealed that WWE originally wanted her to go by the name “Renee Sterling” when she was first hired. She instead convinced the company to go with her current name, and she also noted that ring announcers being assigned names by WWE has largely come to an end. Young also discussed her thoughts on professional wrestling as well as her time time working on The Score
