Teams for Dusty Classic Revealed, Updates on Rumored HOF Members
Friday, February 23, 2018
It was confirmed during this week's episode of NXT by General Manager William Regal that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament will be returning very soon. It seemed as though the tournament had been shelved since it was usually held annually in the fall, but the tournament will now be taking place at this time every year. The tournament first began in 2015 with the team of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe earning the trophy. The following year saw The Authors of Pain emerge victorious in the tournament. Now that few more tag teams have arrived in NXT, some fans have been wondering exactly which one of those teams will be participating in this relaunched tournament.
Fortunately, the answer has already been revealed as WWE just confirmed several of the entrants in this year's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. First and foremost, the Authors of Pain will be given the chance to win the tournament for the second time in a row. Aside from those two, it has been confirmed that The Street Profits will also be entering the tournament. The entertaining team known as Heavy Machinery will also be joining the tournament. Lastly, WWE has announced that former Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finalists TM61 will be participating in the tournament this year. Expect to see even more teams announced for the tournament very soon.
While the recent announcement that Jeff Jarrett will be entering the Hall of Fame has managed to shock some fans, the other entrants announced for the Hall of Fame had been rumored to be going in for months. The initial list of rumored names stated that Goldberg, Ivory, the Dudley Boyz, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Kid Rock would be going into the Hall of Fame this year. The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has followed up on those last two rumored names by stating that these two names are indeed expected to be announced as entrants into this year's Hall of Fame class. Kid Rock has provided numerous songs for WWE to use over the years, and he also performs the main theme song for WrestleMania 34.
