Paige's In-Ring Career is Reportedly Over
Friday, January 12, 2018
Paige returned to the ring late last year with Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose by her side. After missing over a year of in-ring action, Paige intended on returning to WWE better than ever before. She is currently the leader of the Absolution stable consisting of herself, Rose and Deville. Unfortunately, PWInsider revealed today that Paige may actually be forced into an early retirement by WWE. The report claims that Paige's most recent injury has turned out to be far more severe than originally expected, and the company reportedly will not be clearing her to return to the ring again. These reports still have yet to be confirmed by WWE or Paige as of now.
Nevertheless, the initial report describes Paige's situation as being very similar to the one that Edge faced back in 2011. He too was forced to retire from the ring at an early age due to the amount of injuries that he suffered over his career. Paige squared off against Sasha Banks during a recent live event, and during the match, a kick to the back from Sasha sent Paige down to the ground. She was unable to get back up and finish the match. Paige was set to enter the women's Royal Rumble match, but it was reported a few days back that she would likely be pulled from the match due to her injuries. Her in-ring career appears to be over now at just 25-years-old.
It is said that Paige is popular behind the scenes in WWE, so it is possible that she could continue to work in a non-wrestling role going forward. Paige has had a rocky year due to her injuries, past relationship with Alberto Del Rio, and due to her private photo and video leaks, but Paige has accomplished a lot in her brief time as a WWE Superstar. She captured the Diva's Championship on her very first night on Raw, and she is a former NXT Women's Champion. Paige is also looked at as one of the real stars of the Women's Evolution in WWE. She also has the Fighting with my Family biopic based on her life set to be released at some point this year. Be sure to stay tuned for more updates on Paige. For now, her days as a wrestler may be over for good.
