Jack Swagger Signs With Bellator Mma.
Monday, November 13, 2017
It has been announced that the former Jack Swagger, going by his given name of Jack Hager, has signed with the Bellator MMA fighting group as a heavyweight.
Hager was a veteran college wrestler at the University of Oklahoma before being recruited by the WWE where he spent 9 years with the company. He won the money in the bank match and transitioned that into a run at the World Heavyweight Title in 2010. While his run wasn't considered a failure, he was not treated as a strong champion during his time on top, and as he WWE career went longer, he seemed to fall farther down the card. He eventually asked for his release from the WWE in March of this year and has been appearing for independent wrestling companies ever since.
Due to copyright issues with the WWE, he will not be allowed to use the "Jack Swagger" name and will go by his given name, Jack Hager, as he did when he first started wrestling for the WWE.
He will be fighting for the heavyweight, which interestingly, puts him in the same company and same weight division as Impact Wrestling's Bobby Lashley. Hager will begin his MMA career in 2018.
