Clash of Champions News, Jericho/NJPW Update, Cody vs. Ibushi
Monday, November 6, 2017
After Survivor Series, the Smackdown brand's next pay-per-view will be the Clash of Champions event. It just so happens that WWE recently announced that a match between Jinder Mahal and AJ Styles for the WWE Championship will take place on Smackdown this Tuesday. According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Radio show, the match between Styles and Mahal was originally going to be held off until the Clash of Champions event after Survivor Series. The company only recently decided to push the match forward. There is currently no word on what the new main event for the upcoming Clash of Champions show will be.
Chris Jericho managed to shock the wrestling world yesterday when he announced that he will be facing off against Kenny Omega at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12 show in January. WrestleZone, com reported earlier today that WWE did not know that Jericho would be appearing at the event. Cageside Seats also claims that negotiations between New Japan and Jericho began weeks ago. Jericho allegedly agreed to appear on the show after the company promised to promote his upcoming cruise, something that WWE has apparently refused to do. In fact, Jericho has admitted that WWE turned down his request to have NXT talent appear on the cruise.
Cody Rhodes continues to have more and more success in the wrestling industry every single day. He is the current champion of Ring of Honor, he and his wife Brandi will be appearing on an upcoming season of E!'s WAGS Atlanta reality show, and he is a member of the Bullet Club faction as well. Cody is definitely one of the biggest names in professional wrestling today, so fans have been curious to find out who will we face at New Japan Pro Wrestling's Wrestle Kingdom 12 show. New Japan Pro Wrestling confirmed today that Cody will defend the Ring of Honor World Championship against Kota Ibushi at the event in the Tokyo Dome on January 4th, 2018.
