Wednesday, November 1, 2017
The annual Ringside Fest event in New York City took place recently, and it saw Mattel and numerous WWE Superstars in attendance to reveal some of the upcoming action figures that will be coming out in early 2018. First and foremost, a Ringside Exclusive Shawn Michaels figure, based on his run in the popular DX stable will be released soon. The action figure is recreated from Michaels' his D-Generation X: In Your House appearance when he lost to Ken Shamrock via disqualification. The new action figure includes all of Shawn's signature entrance gear and matching DX attire. It is set to be released later this month on Ringside Collectibles.
The final versions of the upcoming Elite 55 series were also shown at the event. Big Cass, based on his tag team days with Enzo Amore, will include two t-shirts, a necklace, and a microphone. Enzo also includes his own microphone, as well as two necklaces, and a jersey. Neville's final Elite action figure includes the cruiserweight title and a posable display plate that can be positioned in a toy ring for high-risk moves. A "Flashback" Undertaker figure, based on his "Big Evil" run, includes a shirt, bandana, and the former Undisputed Championship. Brock Lesnar also has an updated figure here with the Universal Championship. Finally, James Ellsworth will receive his first ever action figure, and it includes a removable shirt and two closed fists!
While they were at it, Mattel also chose to show of Elite series 56! "The Extraordinary Gentleman" Jack Gallagher's first action figure includes accurate ring attire, as well as "William III." Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows invade this lineup with matching shirts and entrance coast. AJ Styles completes The Club with a new entrance jacket with interchangeable hoods. Samoa Joe also has a new angry headsculpt, and he has a removable cloth t-shirt, and towel. Lastly, a fully-bearded Roman Reigns figure rounds out this series. Reigns includes a removable vest as always, as well as a breakable table, chair, and an arm sling.
Mattel also did something a bit different with one of their action figure sets; they have revealed an upcoming Elite 3-pack highlighting three different generations of women's wrestling. Sasha Banks includes her entrance jacket and signature shades, and she is wearing ring attire based on her Wrestlemania 32 appearance, which she wore as a tribute to her hero Eddie Guerrero. Lita also has a new figure with the old school Women's Championship, and her look is based off of her time appearing with Edge several years ago. For the first time ever, WWE Hall of Famer Wendi Richter will receive a Mattel figure. Richter joins Banks and Lita in this set, and her figure includes accurate ring attire and removable sunglasses. No word on a release date has been given yet for the 3-pack, but it should be available in FYE stores and WWEShop.com soon.
