Neville Reportedly Asks for Release from WWE
Tuesday, October 10, 2017
One of 205 Live's biggest stars may have just left WWE for good. It has been reported on a variety of different sites that former Cruiserweight Champion Neville has asked for his release from WWE. Neither side has commented on the matter as of yet, bu the rumors persist nonetheless. It was reported earlier today that Neville was scheduled to face Enzo Amore for the Cruiserweight Championship on Raw last night, but those plans were changed at the last minute to have Kalisto win the title in the main event instead. Neville was noticeably absent during last night's main event match as well, even though most of the other cruiserweights were present as lumberjacks.
As noted, neither Neville nor WWE have officially put out a statement confirming Neville's release from the company. However, Pro Wrestling Sheet has now provided additional information on the matter. The plan was for Neville to face off against Enzo Amore for the title last night and lose. This was changed after Neville reportedly walked out before the show began on Monday night. Neville previously put Enzo Amore over to win the Cruiserweight Championship at the No Mercy pay-per-view, and prior to this, he had been the longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion, as well as the only two-time champion since the division was launched last year.
The report from Pro Wrestling Sheet mentions that they have spoken with multiple sources, and there does appear to be some validity to this story so far. Neville joined WWE as part of NXT back in 2012, and he managed to win the NXT Tag Team Championship and NXT Championship before being promoted to the main roster in 2015. Neville was later injured but returned in December of 2016 as a heel, and this also marked his debut in the cruiserweight division. More information on Neville's release should be coming out soon. With his great athleticism and strength, it shouldn't be too hard for him to find work elsewhere.
