GFW Network Launches, House of Hardcore, Goldberg on 'Goldbergs'
Tuesday, October 10, 2017
After weeks of hyping up the start of a new network, the Global Wrestling Network for Global Force Wrestling/Impact Wrestling has officially been launched. GFW now has launched their network with the hopes of being a successful alternative to the WWE Network. The network features content from GFW, Impact Wrestling, and TNA Wrestling, and they are also working to get some other promotions to sign on to join the network soon. The Global Wrestling Network is now available on iOS and Android devices, and it will be coming to Roku, Xbox, and Smart TVs soon. The service costs $7.99 per month with a 30-day free trial included. You can check it out at GlobalWrestlingNetwork.com.
One wrestling promotion that has managed to stand out over the past few years has been Tommy Dreamer's House of Hardcore promotion. It has been announced that a deal has been made to begin airing the promotion's weekly shows on Twitch. Dreamer announced the news at the New York Comic Con recently, and it appears that the service is going to be launching an entire channel dedicated to the promotion. PWInsider reports that Dreamer is working on making sure the promotion can develop a weekly series, and they are planning a show in New Orleans over Wrestlemania weekend. They also report that the first show will likely be streamed on 11/18 when they return to Philadelphia, PA at the 2300 Arena.
After over a decade of being away from the spotlight, Goldberg appeared in the WWE 2K17 video game. He shocked the world later that year when he not only returned to WWE, but defeated Brock Lesnar in a matter of seconds at Survivor Series and became Universal Champion at Fast Lane. Goldberg will now be appearing on ABC's The Goldbergs in an episode titled Goldberg on the Goldbergs. The former WCW Champion will be portraying the brother of Coach Mellor, a high school gym coach in the series. The synopsis reads as follows: "When coach Mellor tells Beverly about his strained relationship with his brother, she intervenes, prompting a face-off; Geoff and Erica struggle with their long-distance relationship." Adam F. Goldberg, the creator of the series, grew up as a fan of pro wrestling. The episode premieres tomorrow.
