WWE champion Jinder Mahal said there's "unfinished business" with New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski, and he expects another encounter with the NFL superstar.

On Thursday, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated passed along comments from the Modern Day Maharaja about the pair's clash at WrestleMania 33 in April.

"Rob Gronkowski cost me the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and I haven't forgot that," Mahal said. "There is definitely unfinished business between myself and Gronkowski, and I can guarantee he'll be getting his receipt."

The Patriots tight end was sitting ringside for WWE's biggest show of the year and got involved by knocking down Mahal during the Battle Royal, which allowed Mojo Rawley, his real-life friend, to capture the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy.

Gronkowski has attended several WWE and NXT shows in recent years to watch Rawley compete. He might transition from the audience to the locker room in the future, though.

Anthony DiMoro of Forbes.com noted the 6'6", 265-pound playmaker said in a DraftKings videolast year he would consider a part-time career as a WWE Superstar nicknamed "The Gronk" once his football playing days end.

Meanwhile, Mahal is perhaps the most surprising long-term WWE champion in recent memory with his title reign set to hit 140 days Sunday when he takes on Shinsuke Nakamura at Hell in a Cell. His success even caught him a bit off guard.

"There was originally no plan in place for me to become WWE champion," he told Barrasso. "It felt like I became the No. 1 contender out of nowhere. I call what I did forcing the results. I wasn't happy with my position. I was putting in the work, but I wasn't getting the results. I was going to force the result no matter what the cost."

It's unknown whether Gronkowski will actually make his way to the WWE for matches. But it sounds like Mahal wants his name atop the list to take on Gronk if it does happen.
