News on the Rumored Opponents for The Shield at TLC Pay-Per-View
Monday, October 2, 2017
The Shield, consisting of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose always managed to impress audiences when they first arrived in WWE. The team put on fantastic matches week after week, and all three members established themselves as true main event talents. Naturally, when it was reported a while back that The Shield would be reuniting, tons of wrestling fans were delighted to hear the news. The group has not been together completely since 2014, and current rumors and reports suggest that the team will finally be getting back together for at least one more match at the upcoming TLC pay-per-view for the Raw brand.
It was originally reported that The Miz, Bo Dallas, and Curtis Axel would be the ones to go up against the Shield at the event. This seemed to be confirmed during last week's Raw when The Miztourage beat down Roman Reigns and did the signature Shield pose in the ring. However, it was later revealed that those plans are not actually official at the moment. It looks like WWE is still planning on having The Shield reunite in order to boost ticket sales for the upcoming pay-per-view, but the company may have selected other opponents for the three men to fight. It now appears that the Miztourage is not going to be headlining the show with Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns.
During an appearance on Live Audio Wrestling, Dave Meltzer revealed that he expects Braun Strowman to be involved in the match with The Miztourage also involved in minor roles. Dean Ambrose did face off against Strowman last week, and it appears that Rollins and Ambrose are not finished with "The Monster Among Men" just yet. While Meltzer did not specify exactly which roles The Miz and Braun Strowman would be playing in the match, he did indicate that a match only featuring The Miztourage has likely been scrapped. Either way, expect WWE to continue building the reunion of The Shield on tonight's Raw.
