Bobby Roode

When former NXT Champion Bobby Roode made his Smackdown debut this past Tuesday, it was initially believed that he would be replacing Baron Corbin as a top heel on the brand since the company seems to no longer be pushing "The Lone Wolf." It appears that this is not exactly the case, as was proven by the fact that Roode debuted as a babyface. On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio show, Dave Meltzer claimed that he is going to be positioned as a top face in order to replace John Cena on the show. John Cena made his first appearance on Raw in over a year this past Monday night, and the belief is that he is going to be staying on that show for the foreseeable future.

As far as Bobby Roode's NXT status goes, he did appear at last night's tapings from Full Sail University, and the belief is that those shows will mark the end of Roode's tenure in the developmental brand. He has one more match on NXT television that is set to air next week. The company has also announced some NXT live events that Roode is going to be honoring before he goes up to Smackdown permanently. The Twitter account for NXT revealed that Roode will be wrestling in Rochester on September 7th, St. Catharines on September 8th, and in Toronto on September 9th. They are advertising those date as Bobby Roode's "NXT Farewell Tour."

As mentioned in an earlier report, Asuka is no longer the NXT Women's Champion. She vacated the title during last night's NXT tapings. William Regal revealed that she will be joining either Raw or Smackdown and she surrendered the title as a result. Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin has revealed on Twitter that Asuka is currently expected to be joining the Raw brand. Asuka left Full Sail University for the final time last night as the entire NXT locker room cheered her on from the stage. She will be out for 6-8 weeks while healing from a collarbone injury before joining Raw. She still remains undefeated in her WWE career and was never actually beaten for the NXT Women's Championship.
