Friday, July 21, 2017
Welcome to day 2 of our coverage of all that's happening over in San Diego right now as part of their annual Comic Con celebration. WWE and Mattel are there all weekend long and they have made some tremendous announcements and reveals in these past few days regarding new action figures and other toys that will be coming out soon. Yesterday, we saw the groundbreaking announcement of their WWE Superstar dolls line, we saw new Elite editions of stars such as Alexa Bliss, "The Extraordinary Gentleman" Jack Gallagher, Chris Jericho, heck, even James Ellsworth is being immortalized in plastic soon. Strangely enough, we're not done yet though.
The toy company took it upon themselves to unveil the latest exclusive new toys. These action figures are believed to be only exclusive to certain stores. None of the figures shown have been confirmed as of yet, but they should be soon. To kick the event off, new figures of the NXT roster were shown today! Eva Marie, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Akam, Rezar, and Bobby Roode will be coming to the NXT basic line that is exclusive to Target. It marks the Mattel debut for everybody in the series with the exception of Eva. In the Elite line that is also coming to Target, Series 2 will indeed include new versions of Asuka, Shinsuke Nakamura, Dash Wilder, and Scott Dawson. Also, while not confirmed as an exclusive, Zack Ryder tweeted a photo of himself with a Mattel's head designer, Bill Miekina, displaying his upcoming Elite figure.
A few other unidentified exclusives were also shown at the convention earlier today. Sasha Banks will be arriving with her signature shades, rings, necklace, and the first even Raw Women's Championship model for the figure. The figure is based off of her first title win on Raw last year. A "NWO Wolfpac" edition of the Randy Savage is also coming out in October exclusively through Ringside Collectibles. The Mattel debut of Virgil is also coming out in an unknown set, as well as a new Elite edition of AJ Styles that is based off of his Wrestlemania 33 win against Shane McMahon from earlier this year. Be sure to check back with us on the final day of figure unveilings tomorrow because Mattel, much like Braun Strowman, isn't finished with Comic Con just yet.
