WWE United Kingdom Championship Series Premiere Date Revealed
Sunday, May 14, 2017
The time has finally arrived for WWE's new United Kingdom Championship series to debut on the Network. Back last year, WWE announced that the show would start off as a 2-day tournament, which if successful, would be turned into a weekly series. Clearly the show was a hit with audiences, because the first few episodes of the series were taped last week in Norwich. For anyone eagerly awaiting the availability of those episodes, it seems you won't have to wait much longer. WWE Network's upcoming schedule lists the first UK show as debuting this Thursday night at 8pm EST.
The new wrestling show will air on 5/18 from around 8pm to 9:30pm EST, and it will emanate from Epic Studios in England. The show features nearly all of the competitors from UK Championship Tournament from earlier this year, as well as wrestlers from 205 Live, and William Regal from NXT. The new series is also being called by JIm Ross and Nigel McGuinness. One of the episodes will feature a match between "the Bruiserweight" Pete Dunne and Trent Seven with the winner facing current United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate at NXT Takeover: Chicago.
This new series could prove to be an excellent platform for new stars to show their skills to WWE fans. With a Full Sail-esque setting and a notoriously rowdy UK fanbase, not to mention a handful of great wrestling talent, it would be quite a task for this show to be anything other than worth watching. Keep in mind that Latin American and Asian tournaments are also still rumored to be in consideration. WWE is about to get a lot more British soon, and it all starts on May 18th. At least mark your calendars down for the premiere episode, because this series could have the potential to be something really special.
