Galina Becker Anoa'i Roman Reigns and Their Daughter, Joelle
You may know Roman Reigns as part of now-defunct group The Shield along with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. You may know him as “the guy” feuding with Braun Strowman and other members of the Wyatt family. You may have seen him recently defeat the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33, “claiming his turf.” However, you may not know Leati Joseph Anoa’I – the Rock’s cousin, father of Joelle, husband of Galina Becker. Let’s take a look at Roman Reigns wife and daughter in order to get a look at who the real “Joe” is.
How did Galina meet Joe?
Leati Joseph Anoa’I, better known as Joe, met Galina Becker while both of them were attending school at Georgia Tech between 2003 and 2006. Both were quite athletic; Anoa’I played football for the Yellowjackets while Galina ran track.
Galina, a star athlete, won regional titles in long and triple jump events, and was named Most Valuable Performer three years in a row. Joe was a team captain for the Yellowjacket football team, and was named first-team all-ACC in 2006. Both Galina and Joe majored in management while at Georgia Tech.
Who is Roman Reigns daughter?
In 2008, Galina and Joe welcomed a daughter, Joelle, into the family. Joelle, better known as “Jojo” to her family, has even done a “public service announcement” advertisement with her father in order to promote family time. This campaign was known as the “Take Time to be a Dad” promotion. At one time, the WWE used a still photo from the ad in the feud between Roman and Bray Wyatt, a promotional stunt that vexed Reigns even though it was strictly business.
Reigns dedicated the win of the Heavy Weight Championship in December 2015 to Jojo, as he won the title on her birthday. Joelle is eight years old; Reigns says he does not rule out the idea of brothers and sisters for Jojo.
When did Roman Reigns Marry Galina Becker?
Joelle, Roman Reigns daughter, had a major part in her parents’ vows in December 2014. After a two-year engagement, Becker and Anoa’I chose to wed on Disney’s Castaway Cay, a private island owned by the Disney corporation in the Bahamas. In line with the Disney site, the couple chose “A Whole New World” as the theme for the wedding. (“A Whole New World” is a song on the Aladdin soundtrack.)
Recently, Reigns admitted that being away from his family is tough – “You have to know how to give and take . . .that’s the toughest part that I deal with now is just being there . . .But we’re good about that.”
Is Roman Related to The Rock?
Many people don’t realize that Roman is a part of a highly successful wrestling family. As previously mentioned, Reigns is Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson’s cousin. He is also related to modern WWE standouts such as The Usos and Rikishi, but the family tree branches much further back than just this generation’s stars. Roman is actually a part of the “Samoan Dynasty” – as the Anoa’I family is known.
Roman’s dad Sika and his brother Afa were tag team partners and standouts in the World Wrestling Federation (as the WWE was known at that time). Yokozuna, Umaga, and Rikishi are Roman’s cousins, as well as The Tonga Kid, Manu, and Safu. (Manu and Safu are Afa’s sons, making them Roman’s first cousins.) The Rock’s grandfather, Peter Maivia, claims he is a “blood brother” to Afa and Sika. Peter’s daughter married wrestling standout Rocky Johnson, Dewayne Johnson’s father. The Usos are the twin sons of Rikishi.
Roman’s older brother Matthew also competed in the WWE under the nickname “Rosey.” He often paired with Umaga; their team was known as “3-Second Warning.” Unfortunately, Matt passed away in April 2017. Roman said in a recent interview that he is proud to be a part of such a big family and referred to his cousins as his brothers, saying that they are all very close.
Even at the relatively young age of 30, Roman Reigns seems immensely happy in his life. He is married to his college sweetheart, Galina, and they have a beautiful daughter whom they adore. While Galina remains intensely private, she does accompany Roman to many WWE-sponsored events. Because of the Somoan Dynasty and its legacy, the WWE can be sure to capitalize on Reigns' status as a family man in his pursuit to be "The Guy" of World Wrestling Entertainment.
