Matt "Rosey" Anoa'i Dies at 47 Years Old
Tuesday, April 18, 2017
In a bit of tragic news, multiple sites are now reporting that former WWE Superstar Matt Anoa'i, brother of Roman Reigns, died last night at the age of 47. Matt was the son of WWE Hall of Famer Sika, and competed in WWE as Rosey. Along with his cousin Eddie Fatu, also known as Jamal/Umaga, the duo wreaked havoc as Three Minute Warning. Eventually, the team split up and Rosey started working as a sidekick to the Hurricane as a "superhero in training." Fatu had another run with the company as Umaga before he died back in 2009.
As a member of the famous Anoa'i wrestling family, he spent the last few years of his life working on the indies and promoting his father's wrestling training school. His brother Roman Reigns has not commented on the tragedy just yet, neither has any other wrestler in the business. However, his passing is a tragic loss for the wrestling community. Rosey worked with WWE from 2002-2006, and stayed in the wrestling business until his death on April 17th.
No word has been given regarding the cause of his death just yet, however, he was hospitalized back in 2014 for atrial fibrillation as well as congestive heart failure. Rosey does join a rather long and unfortunate list of wrestlers who have passed on this year, and we still have many more months of the year left to go. On behalf of the AllWrestling community, we extend our condolences to the Anoa'i family.
